TRAINING PROGRAM FOR INTERNS
The Community Counseling Center operates a training program for clinical social work interns in association with regional graduate programs in social work. Interns deliver a range of services at the counseling center, including individual and family therapy, crisis intervention, and consultation and referral, while working extensively with both adolescent and adult clients. Interns also lead Advocacy and Life Skills groups at the Hommocks Middle School, and have the option to lead groups at one of the local public elementary schools.
Interns are closely supervised in all aspects of their work by licensed psychologists and social workers. They attend all staff meetings, including weekly clinical case conferences and group supervision.
The internship runs from September through May. Interns have the option to stay on during the summer months, if they wish. Two interns are selected each year. Applicant interviews are usually conducted during the Spring, for placements beginning the following Fall.
For inquiries concerning the internship, please contact Robbie Seidman, LCSW, Assistant Director, at (914) 698-7549.
